Rihanna Named “Richest Female Musician” By Forbes

Rihanna has been named by Forbes as the wealthiest female entertainer with a whopping networth of 600 million dollars leading huge names in the industry such as Madonna with $570 million, Céline Dion with $450 million and Beyoncé with $400 million.
Her 14 years in the music industry has become the fastest growing career as she surpasses icons who have been in the game decades before her. Popular known as Bad Gyal Riri, the singer turned business mogul has established her surname as a brand that runs the entertainment and fashion industry.
She is just Only $400 million shy of becoming a billionaire like Jay-Z, who happens to be the first hip-hop billionaire.
The Barbadian native moved to the U.S. in 2005 from her home in the Caribbean and has given everyone a run for their money since.
According to Forbes, Rihanna owes her huge success to her smart move into film, fashion as well as beauty products slowly moving from collaboration to owning some of the most influential brands in the world.
In 2017, she launched Fenty Beauty earning a reported $100 million in sales in its first few weeks and generated an estimated $570 million in 2018.
Her latest accomplishment, the launch of her FENTY clothing and accessories line under LVMH is also set to not only influence the fashion industry as strongly as her make up line did but also rake in several millions for the mogul.

Boko Haram attacks military bases in Nigeria, steal arms: sources

Haram jihadists have carried out multiple attacks on military bases in northeast Nigeria's Borno state, overrunning three of them and stealing weapons, security sources said Monday.
Fighters believed to be from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the IS-linked faction of Boko Haram, stormed four bases from Friday through Sunday in the latest spate of attacks targeting the army, sources from the military and militia said.
There were no immediate details on casualties.
In the latest incident, on Sunday, the insurgents made a failed attempt to seize a base in the town of Dikwa following a predawn attack.
"The terrorists attacked troops in Dikwa around 4:00 am (0300 GMT) but the attack was repelled without casualty on our side," a military officer, who did not want to be identified, told AFP.
The fighters came in 13 trucks fitted with heavy machine guns, said a second officer, who gave a similar account.
Dikwa which lies 90 kilometres (56 miles) from the state capital Maiduguri, is home to more than 70,000 displaced people who live in several camps where they rely on food and humanitarian assistance from aid agencies.
Late on Saturday, the jihadists blasted into a base in the town of Marte, 40 kilometres away, pushing troops out after a prolonged gunfight, the two military sources said.
The militants ransacked the base, carting away weapons abandoned by fleeing soldiers and setting fire to it. The soldiers withdrew to Dikwa.
As they retreated towards Lake Chad, the Islamist fighters sacked another base in Kirenowa village, 30 kilometres from Marte.
- Soldiers evacuated -
"The soldiers in Kirenowa have been evacuated to Dikwa after the attack by the terrorists", the first officer said.
The jihadists were believed to have launched the attacks from their Lake Chad enclave where the Nigerian military has intensified aerial attacks on ISWAP camps.
Troops in a base in Dalwa village, 16 kilometres outside Maiduguri, were dislodged after a six-hour battle with ISWAP fighters which continued into Sunday, said the military sources and an anti-jihadist militia.
The fighting forced Marte residents to flee into Maiduguri, arriving in trucks on Sunday, according to residents of the city.
However, troops returned to the town late Sunday with reinforcement from Maiduguri, the sources said.
ISWAP has since July last year targeted dozens of military bases in attacks that have left scores of soldiers dead.
Boko Haram's decade-long insurgency has killed 27,000 people and displaced about two million in Nigeria.
The violence has spilled over into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon, prompting a regional military coalition to defeat the Islamist group.

Ogunlewe, Ex-works Minister Set To Dump PDP For APC

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, said on Friday that he was set to dump the opposition party for the ruling All Progressives Party, APC.
Ogunlewe, a former Minister of Works, confirmed the development in an interview with a political correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos State.
He was reacting to the recent defection of his son, Moyosore from the PDP to the APC.
Moyosore contested for a place in the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform of the PDP but lost and soon after, announced his resignation from the PDP.
He has been attending APC meetings in his area with other APC chieftains, including Bayo Osinowo, a member of the state assembly and senator-elect for the Lagos East Senatorial District.

PDP claims N14tn stolen under Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday alleged that N14tn had been stolen under the All Progressives Congress-led Presidency.
It said the party and President Muhammadu Buhari were desperate to remain in power in order to prevent investigations into the matter.
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, made the allegations in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.
Ologbondiyan alleged that the stolen money included the N9tn allegedly stolen from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, as detailed in the leaked Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s memo; the over N1.4tn alleged oil subsidy sleaze and the N1.1tn worth of crude allegedly diverted using 18 unregistered companies.
He listed others to include the N33bn National Emergency Management Agency fund, and the over N18bn allegedly stolen out of the N48bn approved by the National Assembly in the 2017 budget for the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons in the North-East among others.
The party’s spokesman also claimed that the present administration’s “unwholesome” borrowing led to the escalation of the nation’s debt stock from N12.12tn in 2015 to N24.39tn in 2018.

He said within three years, Buhari’s administration had borrowed N12.27tn and yet could not point to any significant project which the money was invested in.
Ologbondiyan said, “The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Presidency and the APC are desperate to remain in power at all costs, so as to continue to exploit Nigerians, protect the APC corrupt leaders, cover their incompetence and conceal the humongous sleazes in their administration.
“This is the reason the APC and the cabal at the incompetent Buhari Presidency resorted to violence, intimidation as well as manipulations and alteration of results at the Independent National Electoral Commission to rig the February 23 presidential election.
“This also explains why the APC’s agents and certain presidential aides have been making desperate efforts to distract the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal and derail the course of justice by making and promoting baseless judicial interpretations and externalising the proceedings of the court.”
He added, “The PDP urges Nigerians not to despair but continue to be steadfast in the aspiration for the recovery of the stolen presidential mandate at the tribunal, as this is the only way to return our nation to the path of peace, national unity and a vibrant economy.”
Efforts to get the reaction of the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa- Onilu, proved abortive on Sunday evening.
Calls made to his mobile telephone indicated it was not reachable.
He had yet to respond to a text message our correspondent sent to him.

In a lead judgment by Justice Mohammed Garba, the Court of Appeal agreed that Justice Mohammed Idris, then of the Federal High Court in Lagos, was right to have on July 31, 2018, dismissed Kalu’s no-case submission and ordered him to put in his defence.
The appellate court also dismissed the appeals filed by Kalu’s co-defendants, Slok Nigeria Limited and Ude Udeogu, challenging the jurisdiction of Justice Idris to continue hearing the case after he was elevated from the Federal High Court to the Court of Appeal.

PDP To Buhari: Tender Your WAEC Certificate At The Tribunal

The people’s democratic party has called out President Muhammadu Buhari to tender his West African School Certificate(WASC) to the presidential election petitions tribunal.

This is coming after, Festus Keyamo who served as the official spokesman for the re-election bid of the President said Buhari doesn’t need a WAEC certificate to be eligible to contest in the February 2019 presidential election.
According to the PDP, President Buhari should tender the WAEC certificate he claimed he has to the presidential election petition tribunal instead of allowing his campaign spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, to insult the sensibility of Nigerians with lame attempt at diversionary tactics.
The party also called on Nigerians to note that by claiming that an aspirant does not need WAEC certificate, but the ability to speak English to contest for the office of the President indicates that Buhari Presidency, through Festus Keyamo, has finally admitted that President Buhari does not have a WAEC certificate as he claimed in his INEC resume.
A statement released and signed by PDP’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan read: ”The PDP says it is incompletely unacceptable for President Buhari to swear to an affidavit to claim the educational qualification he does not possess.
”An attempt to deceive the public using a defective reading and skewed interpretation of a section of the constitution cannot exonerate President Buhari.
“Moreover, Section 295 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) is very clear on issues of interpretations and reference to questions of law.
“The PDP, therefore, maintains that the onus is on President Buhari, as ‘Mr. Integrity’ to tender the certificate he claims to possess before the tribunal instead of this lame diversion from Presidential aide.”

PDP Replies Oshiomhole On Committees’ Chairmanship Remark

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has taken a swipe at the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over a statement he allegedly made that the party will not share chairmanship of House of Representatives and Senate’ Committees with opposition parties in the 9th Assembly, saying the former labour union leader lacks understanding of the internal working mechanisms of the hallowed chambers.

The party described as unfortunate, the statement credited to Oshiomhole, adding that there is no way the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate would emerge without the support of lawmakers elected on the platform of the PDP.
In a chat with our correspondent yesterday, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Diran Odeyemi, said the PDP has a joker it is keeping close to the chest, warning that when the chips are down,” both Oshiomhole and the APC will be shocked.” He said: “We wonder why Adams Oshiomhole will continue to display a clear lack of understanding of how the leadership of the federal parliament emerges.
It seems he believes that his choice of Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila for the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively will see fruition without the support of our lawmakers. We have our own strategy and at the right time, both him (Oshiomhole) and the APC will be shocked.”
Odeyemi further noted that as a party “still learning the ropes” having only won elections in 2015, “APC can be forgiven for thinking the leadership of the National Assembly is its own to determine.”
On the chairmanship of the committees, the publicity scribe counselled Oshiomhole not to be in a hurry, stating that very soon, the chairmen will emerge in a way he would find difficult to understand.
“He should not be in a hurry and like I said, Oshiomhole appears to have little understanding of how these things work. The chairmen of the committees are not his to appoint. The earlier he realises this, the better for him,” he added.

'Multiple' victims in Australia shooting: Police

A shooting in the Australian city of Melbourne early Sunday has left "multiple" victims, police said, but local media reported that there were no fatalities.
"Investigators believe multiple people were shot outside a nightclub near Little Chapel Street and Malvern Road about 3:20 am," the Victoria Police said in a statement.
It did not give any more details including the condition of the victims, but said the shooting occurred in Melbourne's Prahran district.
Local media said there were three or four victims.
"The exact circumstances are still being established," police said.
Mass shootings are rare in Australia, which has strict gun laws introduced after 35 people were killed in 1996 at Port Arthur in Tasmania.
A murder-suicide last year which left seven members of a family dead in Western Australia was the country's worst mass shooting since the Port Arthur case.

Lagos Police arrest 33 suspected cultists over Fadeyi clash

The Lagos State police have arrested 33 persons allegedly involved in the Wednesday clash between two rival cult groups at Fadeyi-Onipanu area where two persons were killed.

Spokesman of the command, DSP Bala Elkana, made this known in a statement on Thursday and said that two locally-made short guns with 10 live cartridges and other dangerous weapons, including cutlasses and knives, were recovered.

According to Elkana, at about 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Onipanu Police Station received a distress call that members of rival cult groups from Alakara, Mushin, Onipanu and Shomolu were seen armed with dangerous weapons. He said the suspected cultists engaged themselves in a fierce supremacy fight at Fadeyi, Onipanu, along Ikorodu Road.
"During the scuffle, one Tobi Kuti suspected to be one of the hoodlums and one Samuel Geofrey of DTD Services, Apapa, who was caught in the web were killed by the hoodlums. Patrol teams and operatives of Tactical Units were promptly deployed to the scene.
The teams swiftly contained the situation and restored normalcy to the area. The command has deployed more resources to the affected areas for manhunt of other fleeing members of the gangs. Investigation is ongoing,” he said.
The spokesman said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Zubairu Muazu, had called on parents to monitor the activities of their children, especially those who engaged in cult activities. He said that the command was duty bound to deal decisively with criminal elements in line with the law and protect the lives of people of Lagos state.

‘You Can’t Become President Through Backdoor’ – Lai Mohammed Tells Atiku

The Federal Government has asked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar to allow the court to determine the merits or otherwise of his petition against the winner of the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari.
It said it was wrong for the former Vice President to resort to self-help in his desire to claim victory in the election.
Mohammed said: “As you must have noticed in recent times, posters bearing the picture of former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, with the inscription: ”THE PUKKA, H.E. ATIKU ABUBAKAR, THE REAL AND THE RIGHT”, have surfaced across major streets in Abuja.
“The appearance of these posters coincide with the media report that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has hired a US lobbying firm to convince the United States not to recognize the re-election of President Buhari until the Supreme Court has ruled on the suit by the PDP presidential candidate
“The posters and the hiring of US lobbyists, the latest of such by the PDP candidate, have triggered questions about what Alhaji Abubakar is up to. Is he starting a fresh campaign after the elections have been won and lost?
“Has he rescinded his decision to challenge the results of the presidential election in court, perhaps after realizing that the results he claimed to have obtained from the INEC back server are cooked? Is he now going for self-help? What really is Atiku’s motive?
“Gentlemen, we are aware of media reports that the PDP presidential candidate on Wednesday distanced himself from the posters that are circulating in Abuja. He also reportedly denied hiring US lobbyists, claiming tongue-in-cheek that the APC fabricated the report.
“If the media reports are right, it means that the former Vice President has suddenly realized the grave implication of his actions, hence has decided to beat a quick retreat before it is too late.
“As a self-avowed democrat, he should realize that the only lawful channel for challenging the result of an election is through the courts. Resorting to self-help, as he seems to be doing now, is an act of desperation and the consequences are dire.

Akwa Ibom Police Arrest 400 Suspected Thug

On Friday February 15th Akwa Ibom State police in the early hours arrested 400 suspected thugs in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital. The suspects were arrested in their hideout in Ewet Housing Estate.
While reacting to the incident, Jeremiah Dogo, a Police Inspector, said the “arrest was made possible by the deployment of extra policemen to the state by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).”
Inspector Dogo said the suspects confessed that they were brought in from Bayelsa and Rivers states by PDP chieftains to help rig the general elections.
Reports has it that the hideout where the thugs were nabbed is believed to be owned by a PDP chieftain in the state.
The suspects are mostly indigenes of the two states. Heavy guns and ammunition were recovered from them.
Police say they have received reports of the various hideouts of the thugs and cultists that have come into the state in the last few days.
“We will make life unbearable for them,” a source in the state police command said.
The APC in the state has hailed the police for the arrest.
The APC said the arrest has brought to fore the alleged statement by the director-general of the state governor’s campaign council, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), that Governor Udom Emmanuel should prepare for war if he wanted to win the upcoming election.
The party also quoted the speaker of the state house of assembly, Onofiok Luke and Senator Bassey Albert as allegedly saying a few months ago that they would do everything possible to ensure the victory of the PDP in the general elections.
The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, Comrade Iniobong Ememobong, said he was not aware of the arrest of any group of persons said to be working for the party.
But the State Commissioner of police, Mr. Bashir Makama, who confirmed the arrests, said the police was still investigating the matter to find out if the suspects were PDP or APC thugs.
Makama said the police acted on intelligence report, hence carried out raids on suspected black spots in Uyo and its environs to forestall any breakdown of law and order during today’s residential election.
The Commissioner of Police, who was also silent on the number of suspects arrested in the sting operation, also said he was not aware of any vehicle caught with money in it.

Basketball Africa League To Launch In 2020

The National Basketball Association and the International Basketball Federation are to launch a professional league in Africa in January 2020.
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) will feature 12 teams from at least six African countries.
Fiba Africa’s executive director, Alphonse Bile, said the league will help players compete in the “best possible environment”.

Bile said: “The implementation of this league is vital to our young up-and-coming players in Africa as it gives them something to take aim at.”
Fiba secretary general Andreas Zagklis added: “It’s a huge joy to see our partnership with the NBA enter unchartered territory as we work together for the first time to maximise the potential of professional basketball in Africa.”
Former US president Barack Obama has backed the plans, while NBA legend Michael Jordan, who is now the Charlotte Hornets chairman, was at the launch event in North Carolina.
Former US president Barack Obama tweeted his support for the new league
How will the league work?
The NBA and Fiba will conduct qualification tournaments to identify which teams from several African countries, including Angola, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia, can compete in the league.
No more than two teams from the same country will be eligible to play in the league.
The NBA has seen 80 current and former players from Africa or with family links to the continent compete, including Hall of Famers Hakeem Olajuwon from Nigeria and Dikembe Mutombo from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Paul Enenche Speaks On Election Shift, Tells Nigerians What To Do

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, has urged Nigerians to remain calm, following the postponement of Saturday’s elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Enenche urged Nigerians to turn out en-masse and perform their civic responsibilities during the rescheduled elections.
The clergy man, who made the appeal during service at the Glory Dome, on Sunday was reacting to the several reactions that trailed the postponement of the Saturday’s elections.
Enenche, while urging Nigerians not to be too angry with INEC, stressed that no institution and group of people will deliberately agree to disgrace a whole nation before the world.
He said: “We have had several reactions from several quarters and I won’t say anything about the reactions but I want to appeal to us all that this coming Saturday which the election has been shifted to, we should go out and vote, don’t be tired.
“People travelled to places for this election and they have to return, please anywhere you can get money do and travel back.
“Nigeria is at a very strategic junction, the destiny of the nation is at stake. We believe the Bible and it says all things woks together for good so I believe the moment of election is meant for good to them that loves God.
“Do you remember when I said there will be many dramas and we are at the tail end of these dramas but listen to this we don’t know the details but Jehovah knows. We do what we can and leave what we can’t. It’s our duty to go out again and do what we need to do. We vote conscience, what we can defend before God, fear nothing, don’t say your vote will not count go and do it and let God make it count, God is on how side in this election and the victory is assured.
“Don’t be tired hit the road again and discharge your civic responsibility, do what you are meant to do and God will do what only him can do.
“Don’t be too angry with INEC, I can see everything turning around. I don’t think anybody or institution will deliberately decide to disappoint the whole few hours to voting, I don’t think anybody would agree to bring the whole nation to shame before the whole world. Every time you see the rat out of the hole in the day time you know something is up so don’t over curse INEC just calm down and let us do what is expected of us and God will do his way.”

A staff of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) was assaulted and beaten with a machete while trying to disconnect light in an area in Lagos.
In a video which has gone viral on Facebook, the man and the IKEDC official can be seen engaging in a serious fight before the resident rushed to his house to get a machete.
Despite being begged by residents to stop the fight, the young man descended on the official with the weapon.
This is coming after some family members were filmed fighting IKEDC officials over disconnection of their light at Ikeja, Lagos state, last month.

Ajimobi Urges Nigerians To Accept INEC’s Reasons For Election Postponement

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has urged Nigerians to give INEC the benefit of the doubt by accepting the reasons it gave for postponing Saturday’s election.
The Governor’s Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday.

Ajimobi advised against speculations and spreading fake news capable of igniting crisis in the country, calling for sober reflection among the players to ensure the sanctity of the electoral process.
“Having come this far in the country’s democratic experience, no sacrifice should be too much for individuals and institutions to pay to protect the sanctity of democracy as an all-inclusive and best form of government.
“Painful as the last minute decision taken by INEC is, I appeal to Nigerians to give the commission the benefit of the doubt by accepting the reasons they have enumerated as valid and genuine.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the INEC Chairman has his integrity at stake and would not dabble into anything that would rubbish his many years of meritorious service in the public service.
“Instead of needless hysteria and blame games, this unfortunate development should be an opportunity for key players in the election process to go on sober reflection on how good governance could be further enshrined in the country,” he said.
The governor admonished INEC to ensure that the new dates remained sacrosanct so that the confidence reposed in them by Nigerians who believed that they have the best of intention will not be eroded.
The governor called on the leaders and followers of the party to remain calm.

APC vs PDP: ‘Jega consulted with stakeholders before shifting election under Jonathan – Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus, has frowned at the comparison of the 2015 and 2019 election postponement by the Buhari government and those loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
DAILY POST reports that in reaction to shift in dates of the 2019 general elections, APC members and supporters are insisting that a similar situation occurred four years ago under the Goodluck Jonathan-led PDP government.
On Saturday morning, Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, said the postponement was not the first and that it would the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) embark on adequate preparations ahead of the rescheduled dates.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST through his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, Secondus said: “The spine doctors chose to be economical with truth by not presenting the correct situation but instead chose to mislead our international friends and gullible public with their lies.
“The 2015 postponement was done days to the Elections and Nigerians and international observers were not yet mobilized for it, unlike the 2019 that was four hours to the election time when all Nigerians and local and international election observers were mobilized to the constituencies.
“Also in 2015, the reasons adduced for the postponement was security which the security chiefs defended by listing the dangerous areas but even at that the INEC then through their Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega declared their readiness but was only bowing to security advisories.
“For records, and for the benefit of international observers, in 2015 the then INEC Chairman Prof Jega announced the postponement on February 8 for the election that was scheduled for February 14, 2015 exactly one week away.
“The National Chairman’s call for Prof. Yakubu’s resignation is a standard practice all over the World that somebody who fails to deliver in such highly sensitive assignment should give way to another person since he is not the only person in the commission
“After all, the INEC boss was assuring the World as at Friday afternoon that the commission was ready for the February 16 poll even when he knew as a fact that the commission was having logistics challenges in the delivery of materials and he never consulted any stakeholder on it”
Secondus said that in 2015 Prof Jega consulted with various stakeholders including civil society groups and political parties before rescheduling the date.
“The National Chairman was therefore right that Prof Yakubu is liable and an accomplice in this APC grand conspiracy to undermine the nation’s democracy by creating confusion among the electorates,” the statement concluded.

“Amaechi Once Asked Me To Bomb INEC Office” – Senator Magnus Abe

The lawmaker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial district, Magnus Abe, on Friday claimed that the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi once asked him to bomb the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He said this while rubbisshing Amaechi’s claim that he was working with the State Governor, Nyesom Wike against the interest of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement he signed, Abe, who is a factional governorship candidate of the APC in the state said: “I have received several calls this morning that the the Minister of Transportation Rt Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi was on air this morning alleging that I am being used by Gov Wike to destabilise the APC in Rivers state.
“It’s unfortunate that the only time we met, at the office of the national chairman of the APC to try to find some working solution to crisis in the party, the Hon Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, spent over two hour abusing me, and calling me names.
“He did not mention Rivers state or the APC once in the course of his entire diatribe. The national chairman could not call him to order or remind him of the purpose for the meeting that day. Instead the party was bullied into participating in an illegality.
“Today, rather than discuss how we can come together despite our differences to mobilise Rivers people to vote for our party and our President, Minister Amaechi was busy telling Rivers people that I am being used by Governor Wike.
“Amaechi as governor worked with me and he is aware that several times he ordered me to do things that I considered wrong, or incompatible with my principles, I not only refused to carry out such orders but I always told him to his face that I would not do them and I never did.
“When he ordered me to go arrange to bomb the INEC office in Port -Harcourt after the 2015 elections. I told him to his face that I cannot be part of any action that would involve violence and death because of politics, when he ordered the attacks on GDI at the time Governor Wike started GDI in Rivers state, Gokana was the first local Government in Rivers state that disobeyed that order, even though there were those hell bent on carrying out his orders in Gokana at time.
“So Minister Amaechi knows from personal experience that I cannot be used by anybody to do something I do not believe in. His refusal as a leader to accept responsibility for his actions is the reason the party is in this state. The bulk of the fight against Wike in 2015 was in my senatorial district, I led the fight in person from the front even in the face of clear personal danger. It is unfortunate that rather than face the real issues the Minister has continued to engage in name calling, inciting violence, and abusing those that can help to find solutions.”

2019: Okorocha, Nnamani, Nwobodo, ministers, others shun Buhari campaign meeting in Enugu

2019: Okorocha, Nnamani, Nwobodo, ministers, others shun Buhari campaign meeting in Enugu.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election campaign kicked off on a low note in the Southeast on Thursday as Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the only South East Governor of All Progressives Congress (APC), failed to attend the first strategy meeting of the zonal campaign council in Enugu.
Others, who were noticeably absent include former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, former Anambra State Governor, Chief Jim Nwobodo, four Ministers from the South East, Chris Ngige (Labour), Geofrey Onyeama (Foreign Affairs), Anthony Anwuka (Education/State Minister) and Okechukwu Enelama (Trade and Investment).
Ogbonnaya Onu, the Minister of Science and Technology was the only Minister from the South East that attended the closed door strategy meeting, convened by Miss Sharon Ikeazor, the Director of Buhari Campaign Council, South East.
The meeting was earlier scheduled to start by 10.am but it was delayed for several hours, following the absence of some key stakeholders.
It eventually commenced by 1.pm when it was obvious that Okorocha and other key stakeholders were not coming.
Some inside sources who confided in journalists, blamed the absence of notable South East APC leaders on their dissatisfaction with the appointment of Miss Ikeazor, a political rookie without any electoral antecedents as the Director of the Buhari Campaign in the South East.
Most of the APC leaders were said to have seen her appointment as an attempt by President Buhari to add salt to the injury already inflicted on Ndigbo by his administration.
The meeting, however, went ahead without an array of South East APC bigwigs.
Answering questions from journalists after the first session, Miss Ikeazor played down the absence of Okorocha and others from the meeting, saying that workings of government cannot ground to a halt because of politics.
She said Okorocha had his representative at the meeting, who would report back to him.
“You noticed that not all Ministers are here. Governance cannot ground to a halt because of politics,” she said.
On the resolutions at the meeting, Ikeazor said since there was no longer time, they resolved to adopt a targeted approach to see that Buhari wins South East.
She said, “We have less than 40 days to the presidential election. There has to be a targeted approach. That is why I have called the meeting today. It’s a strategy meeting. So, we strategised and harmonised our strategies in the five Eastern States for us to be able to deliver Minister President and make a significant change from past elections we have always done
“And that targeted aproach is door to door campaign, group to group campaign. Going into motor parks, markets, talking to our people one on one. This is no time for rallies.
“We need to engage the populace, come down to theitr level and talk to them. And we can achieve that. That is why you saw the large turnout. Everyone from each of the five South Eastern states-candidates, party members, National Working Committee members, zonal leaders, our elders in the party , down to the National Assembly, stakeholders-are strategising for Buhari to win,” Ikeazor said.
Others at the meeting were Senators, Benjamin Uwajumogu and Andy Uba, the National Vice Chairman, South East, Emma Eneukwu, National Auditor George Muoghalu, Osita Okechukwu, Hope Uzodimma, Uche Ogar and Emeka Wogu.

Unlike Other Presidential Candidates, Buhari Is A Honest Man And Not A Thief- Bola Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, today said that President Buhari’s trustworthiness is what distinguishes him as the candidate to beat in the 2019 presidential elections.
Speaking at a function in Lagos today, Tinubu said unlike the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, President Buhari is not a thief.

“President Buhari is a straight and honest man. Leave a Naira on the table with Buhari in the room. You will find the Naira on the table when you return. When Buhari says ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ you know where he stands. He means what he says, no more, no less.  With Atiku, things are more nuanced. This shows he has no vision for the nation except the naked pursuit of power for the naked use of that power” he said
The APC National Leader said that Atiku had his chance to shine as Vice-President when he controlled the privatisation programme of the Obasanjo government but abused this assignment and helped squander billions of dollars on power generation that did nothing but extended the nation’s darkness.

“We should not reward him by giving him another eight years. As the PDP candidate, he is now the leader of an avaricious horde that seeks to reattach its mandible once again to the public wealth and forever lay siege to our nation’s future. Nigerians will do well not to pay them any attention,” he said
